The Vice-Chancellor has held a reception for freshmen of the 2013/2014 academic year. It was held at the Engineering and Business School Auditoriums on November 21st 2013. The reception was held to welcome the freshmen and also to give them the opportunity to interact with the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Provosts, Heads of Administrative and professional offices, Deans/Directors, College Registrars and other officers of the University. The reception which is organised annually after matriculation climaxes the orientation and formal admission of students to the University.

Mr. Karikari, the Deputy Registrar Academic and Student Affairs who acted on behalf of the Registrar, encouraged the students to study diligently and urged them to attend and participate fully in social gatherings as well.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Otoo Ellis, said he was delighted to have them as students of KNUST which he believes is one of the best institutions in Ghana. He advised them to study assiduously. He gave them some security tips and urged them to be more vigilant during examination periods. He was hopeful that their stay on KNUST campus would be a memorable one.
